As I watched TV for a few evenings, I was struck by the fact that Canadians play such a major part on the US networks. On two of the three networks the other night the anchor was Canadian - Peter Jennings on ABC, John Roberts on NBC. Then there was good old Morley Safer on 60 Minutes, and Afghanistan's equivilent of the Scud Stud of a decade ago (Canadian Arthur Kent) - Ashleigh Banfield.
Leaving the news, there was Jill Hennessey staring in Crossing Jordan; David James Elliott as Harm Rabb on JAG; Eric McCormack on Will & Grace; Keifer Sutherland on 24; Gil Bellows and Gloria Rueben on The Agency; Victor Garber on Alias,Matthew Perry on Friends, Michael J.Fox on Spin City (until recently);etc.
Canadians have always headed for the bright lights of Hollywood & New York - from the days of Mary Pickford (America's Sweetheart) through Glenn Ford and Raymond Burr to the present day.
