Hi

There is a very big possibility that i can visit the Militairy archives in freiburg in november this year. I 'm going to finish some research on the German naval aviation in the Marinekorps Flandern.
I went throug most of the normal documents, that is RM 110,112,113,114,120, 121 etc... However in the vast amount of archives there are other sources of informations. can anyone point me some other dossiers. It would give a lot of timesaving.
For example: last year I went throug RM 2 a found sparce information. Surely in other, not so evident documents covering the whole of the aviation some items must be found.

I am willing to ask copies for those who need additional information on naval aviation, but bear in mind that it impossible for me to help everyone. I am willing to take 2 hour for extra research for others.

so shoot....

ps: i am asking no so that i can prepare some things. However there is still a chance that i cannot go, so do not shoot me when the tripp is off.

Hi Alain

Good luck in your research..

Unfortunate I dont have the Freiburg reference numbers...I only have some from the US National Archive... :-[

Here you have some shots from a Flak-shooter..
............ poff

I am interested in photo copies of the following material(I will pay for your costs)..
1. KTB MarineJagdgeschwader
2. Tagesbefehl des MarineFlugchefs after mid August 1918
3. Marine Kofl reports(weekly)
4. Tagesbefehl des MarineKofl(If they exists)
5. KTB MFJ 1, 1 until 15 March 1917 and after 15 Sep 1918
6. KTB MFJ II, mid Oct until 31 Dec 1917 and after 15 Sep 1918.
7. KTB MFJ III after 15 Sep 1918
8. KTB MFJ IV and V
9. The box with combat reports from the MFJs
10. KTB Marine Sonderstaffel and Schustas
11. Early KTBs(before 16 July 1916) of MFFA I,II and
LFA I,II and III from 1915..

I am convinced that much of the material from the old Marine Archive in Berlin still are closed for the public.. >...but it seems that new material is released occassionally..

If you can find any of the above mentioned material it would be great..

Alain,

I second Gunnar's item 10. I would really love to see the KTBs for the Marine Schutzstaffeln. I also will pay for copy and mailing costs. That would be great. If you obtain them, contact me off line and we can discuss it.

Hi Gunnar, Hi rick.

Ho guys.

Of the mentioned papers: I wrote that I went thourg the Marinekorps papers:

1. KTB MarineJagdgeschwader

I > havent 't found those yet.

2. Tagesbefehl des MarineFlugchefs after mid August 1918

> I havent searched for those yet

3. Marine Kofl reports(weekly)
> not found i the normal naval Corps papers, but I'll look again.

4. Tagesbefehl des MarineKofl(If they exists)
> Up to now negative

5. KTB MFJ 1, 1 until 15 March 1917 and after 15 Sep 1918

Tose I have, but incomplete. I took copies off everything but the documents are sparse.

6. KTB MFJ II, mid Oct until 31 Dec 1917 and after 15 Sep 1918.

:-[ Dito for the II.M.J.St. Incomplete. I have parts.

7. KTB MFJ III after 15 Sep 1918

Your kiding. I have the KTB from Imrie who got it from a pilot. But i cannot release this one without his permissioion. and that about that, forget it. In germany nothing. Sorry.

8. KTB MFJ IV and V

> Havent't found anything yet. IOne of the reaseons that i go back is to look for those.

9. The box with combat reports from the MFJs

: Sorry. But not under the papers of the Naval Corps. Have you seen copies of those. Give me a direction in which to look.

10. KTB Marine Sonderstaffel and Schustas

Sonderstaffel. Forget it. Schustas, dito. - nothing in Naval Corps papers. I'll dig somewhere else.

11. Early KTBs(before 16 July 1916) of MFFA I,II and
LFA I,II and III from 1915..

OK, some good news., and bad. I got copies of those. Even from 1915. actually I took most of them already. But 1915 incomplete and very sparse. KTB, mostly bot daily but weekly only giives numbers of airplanes and sparse information of activities. Only here and there detail regarding accidents (Skrebentzky) or airfield construktion. I'll go thourg them again as i have aquired a new base to look for them.

??? You forgot the Küstenartilleriestaffel: Obly one incomplete KTB

Ok, RM 110 for example is on the unit level.
RM 114 is on the higer command level in the Naval corps

I saw every document.

Ps: germany became expensive regarding copies. So I'll take 1 and then copie it at home. Last year it took them 5 months to send the copies. You must know that we are a group who are visiting the archives; some 5 or 6. Mostly WW2. But the amount of copies we take is huge. We block the Freibrug for at least 2 months. Since the 12 years we are visiting the place once a year or once a year and a half, they are panicking we they see us arrive.

Sop guys, be patient. Bear also in mind that i am writing a complete history of the Naval Corps and that of some of the findings i would like to have the primeur???

Anyway: The book of the Seefrosta is finished. Off them the complete KTB is available up to their disbandment in IV and V M.J.St. Its the only ubit with a complete KTB.

finally the end of a long, long reply.

Alain.

Hi Alain

Thanks for the long answer..

Regarding 3, I think that the weekly Marine Kofl reports could have at least two German names..
like "Wochentliche Tätigskeitsberichte der Kommandur der MarineKorps"...or "Fliegerwochenbericht der K..."...or "Meldungen der Kommandur.." or similair...
The name could also have changed during the time they were published(from May 1917 until mid Oct 1918)..
They were printed in at least 20 ex., so they ought to have survived..

Regarding the combat reports I have seen "abschriften" from them from a researcher who has visited Freiburg..

From the Americans who "studied" the archive after WW2 there is also information regarding boxes of photos(probably aerial)..

As I mentioned in a earlier thread there ought to exist cards on every single member of the German Marine with information like birthdate, parents name and address and other basic information...or are they lost..?

Also the KTB or "Abschriften" from KTBs were collected by the German on different levels...
so You can find these KTB(extracts) on at least three entirely different places(for the same unit) in the Archive....sometimes I wonder how these folks working in archives think..
They have at least made it difficult for a researcher...hm..

Once more...good luck in your research..
