Not sure if this is the correct category but,

Flypast, the Museum of Australian Army Flying at Oakey, Queensland has updated their website at;

http://www.maaf.org.au/index.html

They have a Bristol F2b replica in 1 Squadron AFC markings that according to their website;

"The aircraft displayed in the museum is a replica built circa 1983 for the Australian television movie "A Thousand Skies"."

What was the movie a thousand skies? and how did the F2b star in it? Did it have AFC content?

Incidentally, their Bristol Boxkite replica was in "Those Magnificent Men and their Flying Machines".

Living in the States, I haven't seen A Thousand Skies but I recall reading something about it being set in the post WW I period and being about attempting to cross the Pacific to win the Ortiges(sp?) prize.

Hi Cam

I'm back after being MIA for a while.

IIRC 'A Thousand Skies' was one of those excellent mini-series we seemed to make back in the 80's which we (Alas) seem to have forgotten how to make today.

Again IIRC I think it was about Charles Kingsford-Smith and his aviation career. I don't remember any WW1 content. They made two Bristol Tourer replicas (and a Fokker Trimotor) for filming - the Bristol at Oakey has been retrofitted to a F2B.

The RAAF Association Museum at Bullcreek Western Australia has a replica Tourer - I can't remember if this was one of the two from ATS. I don't have their URL readily to hand.
