My son and I just discovered the way cool wonders of playing Delta Force in live public games online. Is there an equivalent for RB3D somewhere? A place where you can just plug into the web site and play without signing up somewhere, practicing with a team and joining a squadron? It would be great for those of us who want to play in a knee jerk fashion whenever we want. Any such animal available?

Yes...there are multiple servers on-line where you can 'fly' using RB3D's multiplayer capability. *The easiest way to do this is to download the 1.0.7.8 patch which will allow you to see many of the servers that are on-line at any given time. *All of these servers are free and most are open to the public (so you don't have to join an on-line squad, etc.)

The 1.0.7.8 patch is available at the Wings of Honor (WoH) web site which, unfortunately, is down right now. *It should be available this weekend some time. *There are other sites that have it as well. *If your email provider allows attachments over 1 MB (the patch is about 1.4MB) and you're in a hurry...I'll be glad to email it to you.

Check out my web page for a link to WoH or email me at

Thanks guys! we'll do the download asap. Its neat to just be able to jump online whenever we like and play with no formalities, sign ups or whatever. My puter just crashed bad, but as soon as I get it fired up again we'll see you online. Thanks again.

Help again.

Got my puter running and reloaded RB3D. But there's no button on the game menu that takes me to playing online. Why not? What am I looking for? Do I have to go thru the web site instead? Thanks.

Go into your RB3D directory and find the icon labeled baronmmp, double click that to start a multiplayer game. Better yet, drag it out to your desktop for a shortcut.

Now all I have to do is keep from being annihiliated every time I go up. I've noticed that everyone seems to favor the N.28... why is that? Is it really that good in the game?

Hahaha! Well, remember a few things here.

1). Most of the people playing on-line in RB have been doing so for years. I've been playing since Summer of 1998. These guys are pretty good, and we're all familiar with each other.

2). It takes a bit of work to get the hang of a plane, any plane, in the game.

Now, having said that, the best way to get help is to ask! Most of the people will be more than happy to stop and give pointers.

First pointer is, get alt. LOTS of alt. Try to engage with alt, and keep it if possible. Wingmen are also helpful.

If you have a night in particular that you want to fly, let I or anyone else here know and I'm sure you can find a partner to help. I'm in a squad, but I promise not to hit you with any recruiting pitch. Just flying.

Stephen...glad to hear that you made it! First of all...to answer your question about the N28...many people like it because it is a relatively stable plane to fly with excellent speed, good maneuverability and good climb rate. You'll notice that most hun pilots prefer the DrI because it is the most maneuverable plane in the sim and turns better than anything else.

You may have noticed that there are different types of servers and different skill levels. You might try a look at the SimHQ Red Baron forum for a detailed explanation of the server types and some valuable discussions about flying various plane types.
