Forum,

The pilot's seat for a Sopwith Camel was partially covered with a substance known as "pegamoid". Can anyone tell me what this is???

Pegamoid = Brand name of an artificial leather. First produced early 1900s.

Thanks for asking that one Steve.

Considering the after effects of sitting for a couple of hours behind an engine spewing a castor oil haze, that could make for a very uncomfortable existence.
