NASM close-ups

Part of the National Air & Space Museum website showing some GW aeroplanes in detail.

Man, I'd have hated being the observer in that Caudron. Imagine standing up to man the gun during some kind of maneuvers with two spinning props a couple of feet away. No thanks.

Speaking of the former WW I gallery at NASM: one of my ace friends was Don Lopez (14th AF CBI) who was a staffer. He showed me the Great War gallery which included a notation that The Ace Thing was based on egotists. Don grinned, "Well, some of us are, you know!"

Yes indeed Don had many a good quip... most were and are not PC therefore not to be posted... we grew-up in the same locality "Canarsie" when we were youngsters and had many shared reminisces albeit decades apart... he was a really interesting and decent individual IMHO... he would've approved the new WW I gallery opening in 2025... standby for more details as the Museum puts it out for the public...
