Unknown pilots of Kościuszko Squadron

I would ask help to identify pilots having following markings on their Oeffag DIII fuselage:

C0: white & red chevron
C1: red nose + white number 3
C2: red nose + white number 5
C3: inverted white chevron on its nose + white number 8
C4: blue nose + white number 9

Thanks for any help,
GB

Hello,

C0: as far as I know, none of aircraft served with 7th Squadron sported white & red chevron. Perhaps you mean some other plane – probably German built Albatros D.III.

C1: white 3 and red nose – por. (Lt.) Harmon C. Rorison

C2: white 5 and red nose – kpt. (Capt.) Merian C. Cooper – it is possible, that his plane was marked with inverted white chevron on its nose, for some time.

C3: white 8 and inverted white chevron (with nose part of fuselage painted blue) – most likely kpt. (Capt.) Edward C. Corsi.

C4: I do not know.

Regards

Marek

Hi!

I think I got it, please have a look at:

WINGS PALETTE - Albatros D.I/D.II/D.III/D.V - Poland

You were right: it is an Albatros DIII and didn't serve in Kościuszko Squadron.

Cheers,
GB

Hello,

I thought so. Profile published on Wings Palette web site is not correct though. The fuselage, fin and rudder were not painted but left in their natural finish. The checkerboard on a fuselage was not square but trapezoid. Machine guns had been removed. I do not have a picture at handy but the airplane looked most likely like the model shown in link below. This plane was used by Wyższa Szkoła Pilotów w Poznaniu – Pilot Upper School at Poznań, in 1919.
