Font for German (pfalz) serial numbers?
Hello all,
I'm sorry if this may have been covered in the past, I did do a search but nothing came up.
I want to make my own decal serial numbers for my 1/32 Pfalz DIII project. Is there a font available that comes close to matching the original?
Thanks in advance.
Bob

Hi Bob, try Bernard MT Condensed in MS Word. it's not perfect but from the list available in Word it looks like a reasonable match - particularly the attenuated rear stroke of the "D" in D III. Have a look.

I don't have that on my machine (no MS Word!), but here's a sample of it. If you also don't have it, a Google search will bring up the Microsoft site where you can buy it for US$20.

Checking my references again, and that fount seems a bit condensed to me.
Maybe if there's just a Bernard MT fount that might be better.

Hello Mike,
Here you go.
There will be some serious masking going on with this beauty, but worth it for sure.
Let the insanity begin

Wow.
DO you have Pin Stripe-ing tape ? I just had a thought ? Maybe it iwll be easier to paint it in reverse ? Paint the fusealge black and red in wide strips and then use the pin-stripe tape and a coat of Future sprayed on to seal the edges then spray the fuselage Pflaz Silbergrau ? Then with a New Razors edge slice the edges of the Pin-Striping Tape as you carefully remove it ?
Or Not ? Or some other way ?
YOurs Mikey

Mike,
I will be spraying silber grau first followed by decals, sealed in with future. The cross overs for the red lattice work with be measured and masked with dividers and mirrored using a false datum along the spine of the fuselage.
If you're going to do a DIII why scrimp on the pain? haha
It will either be a show stopper or a flying hero for 10 seconds... Lets hope it ain't the flying kind
