If you are talking about DV D1177/17, it was overall red with the wings and horizontal tail left in the standard mauve/dark green upper, turquoise lower .
DV D2059/17 had a red fuse, horizontal tail, wheel covers, spinner, and struts, lozenge fabric on the rudder, natural varnished vertical fin, and the wings were finished mauve/dark green upper, turquoise lower.

the box depicts the same scheme for #'s 4693/17, (in which victories 58 and 59 was obtained), and 1033/17, (in which he was shot down and seriously wounded).
a poster i have, showing all of his planes, has upper and lower wings painted red for the above.
they, (the poster and box), both can't be right.
sorry for not going into detail the first time. would've made things easier.

The information I have is, Alb.D.V 1177/17 was thinly over-painted completely, over crosses, everything. The coat was thinnly applied and the crosses and camouflage patterns on the wings were decernible. This data came from photographs taken at Gontrode Airfield in June 1917. Another Alb. D.V was with MvR, which is believed to be Lothar's Machine. The fuselage, wheel covers, u/c and cabane struts were painted red. The entire empennage was over painted what I believe was yellow. the wings were camouflaged in dull violet and dark green with sky blue under sides.

4693/17 was a DVa, 1033/17 was a DV. My references show both with all red tail surfaces, top and bottom, and red rear fuse from the leading edge of the vertical fin back, red spinner, cowl panels, wheel covers, struts and upper wing surfaces.
1033/17 may have had a narrow black band dividing the red on the rear of the fuse and the natural factory finish of the front.

I defer to your sources, of course Dan-San. I have never seen photos of 1177/17, just descriptions/depictions of the scheme by N.H. Hauprich, Alan Durkota and one or two others I can't recall off the top of my head.

thanks for your help. as for the model(s) in question, there's no question but to paint the upper wing surfaces, red.
leon
p.s. where could the misinformation on the box have come from. there had to be a source.

Gentlemen:
The information I have on MvR's aircraft is as follows. This is from article I did for "OVER the FRONT", Vol. 3, No.3 Autumn 1988. he flew 2 Alb. D.V aircraft and 1 Alb.D.Va.
Alb.D.V 1177/17. all red, thinly painted. He scored victories 54, 55 and 56 on 1 July 1917 and victory 57 on 6 July 1917 on which day he was shot and severly wounded on the top of his head. It is not known what became of this Alb.D.V, he never flew it again. He may have flown other pilot's machine on occasion, but that was rare. Alb.D.V 1033/17 may have been one of these, he did not achieve any victories on
Alb.D.V 1033/17.
Alb.D.V 2059/17. Red fuselage, struts, wheel covers, fin, rudder and tailplane, wings camouflaged mauve and dark green. on top and sky blue underneath. He returned to duty on 25 July 1917 and took over Alb. D.V 2059/17in August 1917. He flew it to at least the 26 of August 1917. He scored his 58th victory on 16 August 1917 and his 59th victory on 26 August 1917. On 28 August 1917, MvR received Fok. F.I 102/17. He never flew Alb. D.V 2059/17 again.
Alb.D.Va 4693/17. Red nose, wings, struts, wheel covers, and empennage. After the Fok. Dr.I aircraft were grounded by Idflieg on 31 October 1917, MvR took Alb. 4693/17 as his machine and flew until to 12 December 1917. He scored his 62cd and 63 rd victories while flying Alb. D.Va 4693/17. MvR was sent to the Pfalz Flugzeugwerke and returned and went on leave on 19 January 1918 and did not return to the front until 16 February 1918.
Blue skies,
Dan-San
