Hi Scott:
Is it possible to add a feature in which we can block from seeing the posts of certain others, such as a "Ignore this User" button?
Thanks,
Amy

You can add members to the ignorelist in private messaging but not in the forum itself. Not sure why you would want to do that... it would certainly mess up the continuity of a thread.

Scott,
I can see why one would want such an option.
Al could add all the German records crew, etc.
Of course, it would be even more effective if we could screen out messages based on content. I could then ignore all digressions into the right to arm bears (or some such thing), or the American Civil War/War of Northern Agression/That Unseemly Row south of the border, etc.

Seriously, Scott, being able to "ignore" the user I have in mind would actually improve the continuity of a thread.

On this type forum I really don't think that's possible.
The forum threads on the UBB are stored as stabdard HTML pages even though they are accessed via a CGI Script. Since the YaBB forum is based on the UBB standard, I assume that is also the case here.
It wouldn't be practical for the forum to have any script wich erases portions of a thread for one user, which is what it would need to do in order to accomplish the "ignore" freature Amy is asking for.
If you look at the threads, you'll notice on the longer ones that there are "Page 1, 2, 3, etc" And in those cases the first page is then set as static, un-changing unless one of the posters or the admin edit a posting. Every time you post to one of the threads, you're "appending" an HTML document.
You can, BTW, link directly to any thread on the YaBB forum from outside the forums.

In the past I found it very helpful when I was able to printout an answer by a specific individual regarding a particular question. *Under the new format I must either guess what page to set my printer on (in regard to the length of the answer pages) or printout everything regardless of content. *This includes crosstalk, off topic answers and anything else that may be included. *Is there someway to define answers or page length? :'(

two options for that:
You can copy/paste the text from a single response into WordPad
Or you can use the Page Preview option in MSIE or Netscape.

Insidentally, another version of this type forum, DCForums, allows a threading option to the reader.
I'm not sure if this option is available in YaBB or not...
If it were, the viewer would be able to set his prefferences so that he could view responses one at a time.

Grey: Thanks for the tips. Looks like after three years I'll have to learn how to use this machine!
