Reggie Marix _ RNAS

Are there any books by or about Reggie Marix?

What an interesting fellow!

Rob

Excellent, Thanks!

Have you read it? I'm looking for information regarding the engagement where he forced down a German seaplane during the Dardenelles campaign while flying a Sopwith SS3 tabloid.

So far my research has only turned up basic information with little detail.

Rob

Hi Rob,
Yes i have read it. To be honest it doesn't have much on his career in 1915 - only a measly five pages. But it does mention a combat on 02nd May.
Is this the encounter that you mention?

There are many references to Marix in 'Fights & Flights' by C.R. Samson, and the engagement of 02nd May (in 'Reggie' by John Lea) is taken directly from this source. But it doesn't really go into specifics.

Regards,
Matt.

Yes, that is the engagement I'm referring to.

I'm reading Samson's book now... and loving it. He provides lots of detail on the early years of the RNAS... but of course the details I seek were probably terribly unimportant to him at the time.

This is all info to support my replica Tabloid build. If you are interested, see the Replica planes section.

Thanks for your help... I'll see if I can get a copy of that book.
