One for DPC Dave - powering dpc models

Dave or anyone,

Any recommendations for suitable electric motors and battery packs for the DPC balsa models?

Is geared or ungeared best???

* * *Might I suggest the Hiline MICRO-4 electric motor. It is a direct drive designed to run on two 50 mAh batteries and power 40-60g. models having 50-70 sq. in. wing area. For slightly larger models with 65-85 sq.in. wing areas, a 2-cell
110 mAh battery pack more power for longer flight times of
2-2.5 min. can be expected from a full charge.

The total weight is between 25-32g. The draw is about 2
amps at 2 volts and produces about 15g. of thrust.

Hiline also produces a geared version (micro-6, I think) that is very popular. Several builders have told me that these 2 work
very well. The cost for the MICRO-4 is about $20 (canadian)
and about $38 for the MICRO-6.

Penn Valley Hobbies also has some excellent motors that cost
less. Thats about all the info I can provide at present time.
Normally, I leave it up to the builder to choose his own type of motors to power the aircraft. Modifications to the airframe
are also done by the builder as I do not provide any details
because of the vast numbers of electric motors on the market today. Hope this is of some use. If not, feel free to send me an email and we'll see what kind of solutions we can find.

The next series that I'll be doing will be in 1:12 scale and the
motors from Penn Valley will fit nicely. Plus its easier on the pocket too. Happy Modelling!!!!
