Hello,

does anyone have a picture showing the Jasta 11 planes in Roucourt, where one can see the different markings of Richthofen, Wolff, Allmenröder etc.?

My Gallery
Thorsten:
I refer you to "von Richthofen's Fl;ying Circus", page 22. The top photo is not at Roucourt ,it is at LaBrayelle. The building is a laundry, it was still there in1976 when I visited the site. The middle and bottom photos were taken at Roucourt. Also the photos on pages 15, 16, 17,18, 19, 20 and 21.
The clue to identifying the location is the forest bordering the airfield.
Blue skies,

And watch for the tell-tale dual line of trees that stretched out in front of the chateau at Roucourt. They were still there when I visited Roucourt in '93. Walk out of the chateau and through the front garden, cross the street and follow the trees... its like walking down an aisle between the rows of trees. Look for a modern farm field to your right and imagine a big red Albatros. All you need is a time machine.

Hey, wait a minute... it IS Roucourt, isn't it? Or am I mixing it up?

Funny - over Xmas, I visited the neighborhood I lived in from 1963 til 1971. None of the same trees were there - even some we'd planted as saplings! And the new generation trees were 20 to 40 feet tall. Of course, it was in Atlanta, and the trees were pines. . . .

Are there any recent photos of this Roucourt area? It would be interesting to see a "then and now" comparison.

I visited the Castle in 1995 - talked to the (noble) man who lived there - and made a picture of the famous stairs (you find them in the Richthofen Album 1917 of my homepage

But the house nowadays is not the one of Richthofen etc. 'cause it burned/ was burned down in 1918 - but it looks almost the same!
