Hi folks,

I was just paging through my Windsock Datafile #49 LFG Roland C.II and was struck by a scheme in one of the photos.
On page 14 at the top, photo number 42 there is a crashed Roland decorated with fish scales. I was thinking of trying to replicate this scheme, but I wanted some opinions on what color the scales should be. My guess is a blue/grey over the normal light grey. Also, does anyone have any ideas on how to replicate this finish. I was thinking that I could do it easiest with some sort of stamp.

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Andy,
I did mine with mid grey water proof ink,in a graphics pen, over a light grey base.
It is only in 1/72nd but does not look too bad.

Hi

One of the best pro modelers I know did this one with a scalloped mask and an airbrush, moving the mask in tiny increments up and down. This scheme is also shown in the old Profile Pubs book on the plane.

Cool, hun?

Andy,

I don't have the Datafile. Is the Walfisch you mentioned this one?

Marcio,

It looks very similar to the one in the Datafile. The plane in the datafile clearly has scales all the way to the tip of the tail, rather than stopping at the national insignia.
