Ron Lowry - The Great War Scratch Built Types (VII)

... et encore mes amis!

Ron thought the RE.8 to be an aircraft rife with character and created a masterpiece with a replica of the type flown by Biggar. The model earned the Michael L. Fritz Memorial Award in 1996 which is presented annually at the IPMS National Convention "for outstanding achievement in modeling of World War I aircraft. This RE.8 was featured in Over The Front Volume 10 Number 3 (for which my father also painted RE.8 profiles which grace the back cover).

Thought the amateur efforts at photography render it difficult to discern, this particular RE.8 had the name Betty on the forward fuselage ... which was the name of my later mother ... my father was to build a few aircraft with the moniker.

Salut
Kirk

Yes, but did it have Bart Bandy's drawers in the rear cockpit?
