Not so. I am getting more childish and immature as I age.... I am already developing a baby's head of hair, a round tummy and stubby legs.... and losing my teeth!

My deepest sympathies to Barry's family.

If they're attempting to read the various threads and posts he made then they'll find that much of the detail mightn't make much sense. However, I'd hope that they can see that he was an enormously positive contribution on the Forum.

There are many here with so much expertise, built up over decades. In the format of succinct posts on a Forum thread it can sometimes sound slightly adversarial in nature, as people outline their rationale. Barry was not one to pick fights on different issues, and was often the first to 'like' a post: he took the time to read so many contributions.

I'm not surprised to hear that he was a former racing driver, and that he competed at Sandown. Even better to hear that he had a deep appreciation for heritage and for restoration of vintage vehicles of all description.

I hope his family can have some consolation in how appreciated he was on fora such as this. He'll be missed.

Hello, Barry's daughter. You make sure that your sons and daughters and Barry's other great neices and nephews know what a gentleman, scholar and massive credit to his heritage he was. Hard as it may be, do all you can, in his memory, to have his descendants value and appreciate the traditions that formed blokes like Barry to set up the country and lives that we enjoy, not because we've done anything but have the advantage of what our ancestors endured. I'll remember Barry in my prayers.

Great patio you have.

God Bless Barry

Sad to hear that Barry passed away. In his posts he was always friendly and kind. He enjoyed being on the forum. As a member since 2010 he posted over 2600 times and gave many likes. His kind reactions will be missed.

A farewell salute to Baz from the Netherlands.

I hardly knew him but from what little I see he seemed like a wonderful man and I hope my postings gave him some pleasure in his last years. I regret not knowing him better. Sorry to hear of his passing. Still, he had a long run and a family and leaves behind a valuable legacy in deeds and in the memories of those that knew him.
