Not required of him Alex---he has a following of acolytes and sycophants to do it for him.
"nobody believed me" --- Oh! the tragedy encapsulated --so much heartache from so few words!
"Germans being Germans"---(twice within a few posts)!----His vengeance is coming! Time to throw away all history books not written in German!
"A lot of images you would'nt have seen without me"------ what a sorry state our knowledge would have been in without MT's all encompassing wisdom!
"I could tell a lot more about Rodney Gerrard" ------- Then as a 'friend of history' don't you feel a compunction to tell?
No---you prefer to cause friction on these pages--which is much easier than causing an advancement of our collective knowledge. I have debated with you and I know your worth----and your tactics! The one is slight, the other obvious...
Dave.

"With this to contend with, and seeking confirmation, I asked Rodney if he could ask the purchaser of the fabric to also do a Methuen rendering or another color photo to form a 'second opinion'. Rodney's reply surprised me a bit, because it seemed evasive and that was totally out of character for him. He said that he didn't really remember to whom he had sold the fabric, that there was this chap in Belgium, and another in South Africa, and well, he just wasn't quite sure. I persisted and asked him to please try to remember because it was very important to me. It was obvious that it made him uncomfortable and I didn't understand why. This went on for some time and finally one day I got a very surprising letter in the mail. It was postmarked London, the text quickly revealed that the writer, or probably more correcty, both the dictator and the writer, had a native tongue other than English. It may have been dictated in this other language, clearly a Germanic (but not German) language, and translated into English by a person who wrote it, the head man's personal assistant who signed the letter. Most of the letter consisted of what can only (conservatively) be described as a tirade in which Rodney was blasted for breaking his promise to protect the identity of the purchaser, that that was one of the terms of the purchase, that this worthy had no wish to be constantly badgered by those intent on purchasing any part of his collection and so on. He came across as the type of individual who would happily buy stolen art treasures and lock them away in a vault so no one else could see them."

Do it again, Dave.

Well my solution to help fellow enthusiasts to not fall for such faked pieces is just make a reference site (something like Kaiser Bunker).Perhaps it would help not break anymore hearts

Every post that has this gentleman involved seems to degenerate into a slanging match. Why can't his posts be checked before he insults more members of the forum?

I quite agree Colin--and would add that the insults come very often without any rhyme or reason---just for the sake of it, it seems.
We can (and do ) all take some VERY robust debate and argument--and can sometimes transcend our own standards of 'reasonable' IN THE MIDST of a heated debate---but this poster seems to thrive on unwarranted insults --apropos of nothing--it so often seems.
I was personally flabbergasted at his comment recently condemning allied Bomber crews to "burn in hell"...
But this is my last word on this poster.
Dave.

I am told that we can click on the triangle at the bottoe of an indiviual's signature block to the left of each post and let the moderator know of problems.

Should the opposite view be banned, because the die-hard opinions of some members are disturbed, or is there a demand for more knowledge and background news, even if these aspects are somewhat uncomfortable?
That's the question.

PS English is not my native language. I have no chance against some lyrics here.

After the collection was sold off some years later Paul Leamen had acquired some of it.

Hallo Lloyd,
Manfred
