For what it is worth, The Albatros Werke and OAW never applied the fabric to their aircraft with the warp direction of the fabric at a 45° to the leading of the wings. They were covered chord or span wise.

fcm, realise that you are in the "Coffin Corner" when it comes to releasing decals (if there's no kit selling, the decals won't sell either), but if my Hi-Tech Nieuport 24/27 is any indication, the Alb. D.V is going to be everything the Battleaxe Fok. D.VII was not. Heck, I was thinking about ordering one of your 1/48 Albatros sheets and trying to reproduce the markings in 1/32, just to have a "one of a kind" model!
Dan-San, are you taking applications for "Foster-Nephews," 'cause I don't think "Topgun56" appreciates what a treasure trove of information he's got! Seriously, stand by, 'cause I will want my 1/32 Albi to have the Loz applied the right way, whichever scheme I choose (and I reserve the right to reiterate that the Green/Mauve is boring) An Alle: Alles Gute! Rob

Thank you very much for the information, I did not have anything about this detail...
The lozenge in that drawing is already fixed.
Rob, sorry my poor english, but I did not undersand what you mean about "Coffin corner"... I know very well that the success of a decal depend on the same success of the target kit...
I like very much the Hi-Tech kits, I have the Breguet XIV and A.E.G. GIV, I intend to make decals for those ones and all others from Hi-Tech. About Nieuport 24/27, the allied subjects will come right after the first german decals

Hi FCM,

*The top profile is Ltn. Heinz Kustner. The are a number of photos of this aeroplane in Windsock International Vol. 10 No.2. *One in particular has Ltn. Kustner posing with the Ozbv. of Jasta 18 , Ltn. Rodde.

* I don't know the second , but a similar marked machine was flown by Vzfw. Glatz. *Same reference.

*Off. Stv. Wilhelm Kühne and ground crew were photographed a similar marked aircraft at Montingen, Oct 1918. This photograph appears in "Fokker D.VII Anothology1" in Greg Van Wyngarden 's Jasta colours section. He called this aircraft unidentified.

* *The Ministry of Muntion's Report on the Fokker Singlr Seat Biplane (D.VII 368/18) in part stated,

* " except the radiator which is painted white."

Personally I believe the white contined around the radiator and undercowl until it reached the front landing gear legs. *In regards to the bottom of the fuselage I don't know. *

fcm, "Coffin Corner" refers to a fighter pilot's (or any pilot's, for that matter) situation when he/she has no altitude to trade for speed and no speed to trade for altitude. IOW, with no options but to die. BTW your english is fine, and looking forward to your fine decals! Alles Gute, Rob
