In his book "Der rote Kampfflieger" Richthofen wrote that he and Zeumer made several flights in an aircraft with 2 engines near the Channel area. On one occasion MvR received a little cut in the finger by a rotating propeller, while signalling something to Zeumer. On another flight they were testing a new steering system that would allow to fly a straight line with only one engine working.
This raises the question on what aircraft did the two men made these flights? Was the AEG bomber already in service. Did the very experienced Zeumer ever flew on of the new R-class aircraft?
Was Zeumer familiar with the "Taube", one of the most important prewar aircraft in Germany (or other B-class planes)?
