As I understand it, the 101st Airborne, Navy Seals, Green Berets and British SAS are already in Afghanistan and have been for over two weeks.
I'm not a real bright guy, but I'd say somebody's in a boatload of trouble.

* How could I overlook it? *??? *The bleating theme of the pacifist herd: "Violence never solves anything!"
* By quick count, violence has resolved every boxing match, duel, fist fight, knife fight, gunfight, football game, soccer game, some basketball and baseball games, and (BTW) every war in recorded history--and then some.
* THE best refutation came years ago during an exchange between Wm. F. Buckley and then-Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynahan, during a foreign-policy debate. *The NY senator finally reached the exasperation point and sputtered "You cannot restore democracy at bayonet point!" *(High, slow one over the center of the plate.)
* *Flashing his toothy gotcha-you-idiot-and-you-don't-even-know-it grin, Buckley batted his eyelashes and said, "But Senator, that is PRECISELY how democracy was restored to Germany, Italy and Japan...."
* *
* *"It's outta here folks--over the center field wall!"

I would happily invite the pacifists to sit with me and watch "High Noon", but I don't think they'd get the point.
What's particularly irksome is that they are so steadfast in their denial of historical fact.
Gee....think of what would have happened if pacifists had convinced the Hasmoneans not to raise their swords in resistance against the Selucid Greeks.
Hellenistic culture would have swallowed up Judaism.....
hmmmmmmmmmm......
then....why, anti-Semitism would never have been created.
Darn those Maccabees!

Barrett,
*What the peaceniks want is a world where everyone gets along, loves every race, creed, and gender. *What they fail to realize is that human nature will never let that concept work. *I was listening to some stupid College Peacenik Professor on Fox last night. *One of the dumbest things she said was "How can you call this a war, what they did was a crime, not war." *Excuse me, but when you level a few buildings and kill 6,000 or more ... by definition of the term it is war. *One of the buildings was a military building also ... that is an act of war. *
Then they bleat the same old tired mantra of "we should try to understand them, and this is the United States' fault". *The best response to this came from JD Hayworth of Arizona - "When you are walking down an alley with your family and you meet a mugger, you first deal with the problem to protect your family and your life, then if you want to ... go back and try and understand him later ... what problems he may've had in his childhood and etc. *If you try and talk to him before hand to try to understand him, you're gonna end up dead. Make no mistake about this folks, we are in the fight of our lives for our very existence as a nation."
But the pacifists still wish to live in their "Cosmic Egg" with the peace symbols and love signs painted on the inside of it. *Perhaps someday they'll realize that reality is a harsh mistress, and if you don't want to do something because it is too hard, or it makes you unpopular ... then you lose. *The late RADM Arleigh '35 knot' Burke said that.
Regards,
Tom Paine

P.M. Tony Blair to the Taliban: "SURRENDER THE TERRORISTS OR SURRENDER YOUR POWER" I like the sound of that!

Well, if it's a liberal paper, the headline would be "TYRANNICAL TOOTSIE TERRORIZES TRANQUIL TOWNFOLK". Mike, skip the ball gown for your calendar and just stick with the "dorky" hat, t-shirt, and funny shorts.

I didn't used to like Tony Blair very much... (at all)
He's earning my respect.

It was only after I saw the picture in the paper that I remembered that my hat had the NRA symbol in front.
I must have had Pollyana Peacenik scheissing in his trousers.

[Speaking of which ... perhaps that is the justice Osama Bin Laden deserves ... A ROMAN STYLE CRUCIFIXION!]
Paine,
I was always partial to Vlad the impalers style of intimidation a forest of 30,000 impaled enemies. That would either intimidate or enrage. In this case if I remember correctly his enemies turned around and left. :-/
