Am devastated.
When I was living at Batemans Bay, and Barry was just down the road (25 km) at Moruya, we used to catch up for a cuppa and a chat. Well read, we had some very lively chats over the years.
But haven't seen him since my move to Culcairn 18 months ago. Just the occasional message and banter.
Will greatly miss him.

So very sorry to hear of your sad loss at Barry's passing .
He was always a great supporter of my technical & other posts , and never afraid to be the first to post a like , which I greatly respected .....
We only spoke via " Personal Messages",. but I counted him as a friend .
This forum was a better place with him in it .....He will be greatly missed .
God Bless him .

Barry lived about an hour and a half's drive from Canberra, the National Capital City, where I live. I did not ever meet him, but I had planned to meet him next time I was in his area. Sadly, with this devastating news that will no longer be possible. I had talked to him on the phone though and as we have all found here on the forum he was friendly and welcoming. I agree, he was very supportive of other members and actively liked their messages.
A very sad loss, and unexpected for most of us. My most sincere condolences to his friends and family.

My condolences to his family and friends.
I don't know what else to say.

The number of people from across the globe who have sent messages of condolence shows how much Barry was appreciated by us all. I never met your Dad but he we exchanged messages a few times. He seemed a decent, level headed man and not seeing his name on this forum will be a constant reminder of how much he is missed.
Sorry for your loss, and sorry for ours too.

A sad reminder that in these internet days there are many folk we come to know and respect but will never get to meet or perhaps even speak with. On the other hand, without the internet, in many instance we would never have have had the privlege of getting to know them in the first place, or perhaps even knowing of their existence at all.

We actually became friends on Facebook. My 1st memories were of him sending me pictures of where he lived and what he was working on. I used to watch his progress with his projects. He was a kind, wonderful man.

Just as the combat squadrons at the front on both sides, posted on the board their Rolls Of Honor, of fallen comrades, we should do no less than a ROLL OF HONOR on the forum of our advanced scouts. I propose Barry Hickson on the ROLL, and also Mike Baram.... Cheerybye;
