ok i was only pointing out a flaw in the kit and i dont know if the A-H wireless was used by the Germans i have stuff on them both pm me with your email and i will send it to you any way the german real is smaller and has no holes in the side, and it apears to be smaller and both need a antennas insulated tube were the antenne is in before it is let out through the bottom of the aircraft. on one side there should be a clutch lever for the wireless and there should be a genarator with clutch on the motor and don't forget wiring form the motor to the wireless i though you might need to know this stuff keep the photos coming Doug

It does look very fine. I am glad I have not shown what is in my 1/72 J.I. Yes, yes, I know there is a difference in scale but still, the comparison would be too hard for mine.
I do agree, some final touches would do good. Though not necessarily dirt - I would add some shading or wash.
And I promise to follow this relation With great interest!

A wonderful work for beautiful airplane. I have seen what I like it very much. I think with a little effect of mud and wear in the edges (as you say) it would be great also, I would give him a little wash to give more depth to the painting and not everything seems so clean (but this is a my opinion, does not mean it is more correct ).

Miguel1,
Gracias, amigo! I will be doing a bit more weathering in the next few days, as I mentioned in an earlier post. I think I will also make a leather seatback for the pilot, as I see a drawing of one in the J.1 Windsock Datafile. There is so much that can be added in 1/32nd scale!

Thanks, Buz: really appreciate your comments! I'll be dirtying it up a bit later this week for a little extra realism.

Hi,Troops,
OK, I lied: the two positions are now dirtied up! I used two sets of Tamiya weathering masters to add some mud, scuffs and scrapes in both locations. I also used them to add a bit of depth to the seatbelts and leather seats: not a bunch, just enough to give that "third dimension." And I aso noticed that I forgot to fit one length of rudder cabling in the engine compartment: easy fix!
I've also started to sculpt a seatback cushion for the pilot. There's a drawing in the Datafile that shows this item in three-view form (Page 32, top), so out came the Milliput. It should have cured by tomorrow, so I'll then start to sand and shape it to it's final form.
Now the fun part: getting a couple of halfways decent photos to post here! I think that I'll wait (and experiment!) while the seatback cushion gets sorted, and then post a few showing the final version before closing up the two positions.

Hi, Everyone,
Sorry to be so slow in getting this update posted: sometimes domestic imperatives do conspire against the best plans!
As you can see, I've added a few scuffed and muddied areas, weathered the seatbelts and the back of the gunner's compartment, and worn the paint a bit from the edges of the fuel tank. The idea is to show a bit of wear, but not too much given the late arrival of 586/18 to the front.
You will also see the pilot's back rest cushion, shown in the datafile. I simply rolled out a small slab of Milliput, lightly scribed a couple of shallow indentations, and let it cure. When hardened,, several coats of Mr.Surfacer 1200 gave it that smooth leather surface. Then a light airbrushing of Humbrol Leather, a bit of wearing and griming (not much!), and it was slipped into place over the kit seat cushion, being held in place with a small dab of white glue.
The pilot's cockpit and seat got a bit of a workover as well, in much the same way as the gunner's: bit of mud and scuffing, some slight wear, and a generally "lightly used" appearance. Some of this does not show well in the photo, but I can assure you that it's there, ready for the "Detail Police" at the next competition!
Next up is a bit of concurrent activity, as I sort out colours, apply the light green, and play with the engine when the paint fumes get too strong! I'm closing in on the colours (mainly Xtracolor), and I hope to get my results in the next update. More soon!

Impressive.
And do not worry about the slow progress. We are patient, I am at least and I will be watching this series. It is worth waiting.
