I'm trying to collect as much information as possible regarding the manufacture and use of WWI era propellers for a book I plan to write. Especially need is information that would help identify propellers by drawing numbers, etc. I am also an avid collector and am anxious to add to my collection with purchases or trades. (I have over 50 so far.) Of present interest, does anyone know what S.G.D.G. stands for?

S.G.D.G. is stamped on one Integrale propeller and is on the decal of an Eclair propeller, both in my collection. Both were manufactured in the early 1900's, the Eclair prop designed for a Caudron. That's all the context I have!

There was a book that came out years ago called "Aviation archaeology" by Bruce Robertson, publ. Patrick Stephens, 1977 which had a very good list of the drawing numbers and the a/c they referred to. It was a thin small book and I've got a photocopy of the pages "somewhere". I remember it said "propellers can be obtained for about £5.00 each" Dream on.

Cheers, Brad

Thanks, Brad. I actually wrote to the publisher several years ago ("Aviation Archeology" is no longer in print) and the author was kind enough to photocopy the relevant data for me. It has also appeared in "WWI Aero" magazine in the past. That takes care of British props, I have a fair amount on French props, but U.S. manufacturers are a BIG vacuum.
