D7 static pull results, got any?
Do any of you have numbers for the static pull test results of the Fokker D7 motor variants and with various props. Post any combination to get us started. I believe the USAAC did those tests and also tested the D7 with the Liberty 6 (bmw/merc clone) in the process.
Maybe the tests were made using the same props, and then with the motors best performing prop, that would tell a lot about those D7 motors. What I'm thinking is this: Since comparing big bore & stroke WW1 motors to small bore & stroke high rpm peak torque modern automobile engines is like comparing apples & oranges, so, I'll compare static pull totals. Those numbers are just the product of power into the prop, and prop shape, and should let a performance comparison of the whole plane be made. I know its not exactly the same result, but if the numbers are close and the power to rpm curves of two motors are similar, then the results are comparable. I'm looking at various auto motors, and schemes to make them work, for my 7/8 scale D7. Pull results should allow comparison and allow conservative expectations for the planes performance.
