In my town, Caravaggio, in northern Italy, there is a beautiful monument dedicated to an Italian World War I ace, Giovanni Ancillotto called "Giannino". It was an ace with 11 victories under his belt specialized in balloon busting and awarded with a gold medal for military valor, the highest italian award. His name is linked to my town because it was here that, in 1924, he died in an automobile accident. Mocking destiny for a pilot of this caliber who certainly faced many risks during the war.
