Another concern:

If possible, donate items on long-term loan with right to recall. Joe Foss outright gifted some items to NASM but regretted it after the 1994-95 Enola Gay flail.

His material disappeared for years and finally fetched up at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico. Nobody seemed to know how that happened...
