Good morning Gentlemen,
As informed previously, I am more related to WW2 History than WW1, so please excuse me in advance of any mistakes.
I would like to obtain help in trying to identify the Squadron of the Royal Aircraft Factory S.E.-5 (it could be a SE-5a too) shown on the Picture below. One can see the two guns on the Picture, the 4-bladed wooden propeller (smashed near the root), one tyre is missing, etc...and there seems to be a number 7 painted in White over the top wing.
There is, sadly, no other information on the Picture, regarding DATE, PLACE, etc...so this is really a blank point.
While researching on this Fórum, I found several threads informing that 56 Squadron later passed to use numbers instead of letters (January 1918). So, if this is correct, this is a machine from "B" Flight of an unknown Squadron.
Maybe some of you do have a list of known SE-5 losses with a NUMBER 7 on...so we can narrow the possibilities.
Any help or pointing would be most welcomed to try to identify this machine and pilot.
Most humbly yours,
Adriano S. Baumgartner
