Another Nieuport 17 question...
Does anyone have a photo of the interior of a Nieuport 17 that shows the rewind drum located on the pilot's left side? I have seen a couple of resin detail sets that show this drum but I cannot find any photos or drawings of it anywhere. I did find a artist's rendition in the book Vickers Guns by Harry Woodman, although it is overly simplified. It looks like the rewind drum was between the outer fuselage ply cover and the inner wire bracing, so I'm thinking it may have been covered over with ply on the inside as well. It cannot be seen in the photos of the Belgian Nieuport 23 in Nieuport Fighters vol. 1. Maybe the N.23 did not have the rewind drum? or if so it was behind the inner panel and not at all visible... If anyone has any photos one way or the other I would love to see one...
