RFC Rudder Stripes

Hi;

I've noticed an outlining on some SE5a (and Camel) rudders. I'm guessing it's a PC10 'margin' similar to that under the wings, but done at squadron level. Or maybe where the red, white and blue dope has worn off, though I find that hard to believe. Anyone know more? (I've never seen it replicated in artist's profiles).
Cheers Tony
