Hey guys.
I got to looking through some old books my grandfather had about the Great War, and I came across a paragraph in an old and beat-up hardback (I THINK it's a hardback... lol; it's hard to tell with the condition it's in) about Major
Lanoe Hawker's third kill. I know so far it was an Albatros C.I and it was shot down at about 1830 hours on July 25, 1915, in the Zillebeck/Hill 60 region. Reportedly, the pilot (a hauptmann) and the observer (an oberleutnant) both leapt from the plane about 10,000 feet up and plunged to their deaths, the hauptmann's body landing behind the British lines with a map marking the German artillery positions (the oberleutnant's corpse is apparently unaccounted for).
Anyone know who these two fellows were? Thanks.
