Hi to All,
I just wanted to send out a personal report of my initial experience with OFF "Between Heaven and Hell". I am running Vista and found the installation to be very easy. I was flying in no time and after a few tweaks to the graphic sliders in the CFSconfig file she was smooth as silk. Beautiful? Oh yes, but so much more. Historical? Extremely. Exciting? Beyond description but I will try. After taking in all the wonderful eye candy and preflight briefings I thought I was ready to have a go on the first mission for my selected squadron and time period. Yeah, okay, I've done this before... Red Baron, Dawn Patrol, Flying Corps etc. Got into the cockpit of my SE5 and found we were under attack by a number of Fokker DVII's. No time to admire anything. Must get up and drive them off or shoot them down. Got her up and tried to gain some altitude. Swirling birds all around, confusion... here's one, get on his tail...that's it...now blaze away... ease up there, don't jam the guns. Right, caught fire that one, I think I saw the man jump, poor soul. They had us surprised but we had the numbers and won the day. Fortunately there will be a great many more days ahead. The German crates are beautiful to look at as well as fly. I took a turn in the Roland CII "Walfisch" as both the pilot and observer. Working the observer machine gun with any accuracy is a skill I'll have to work on but is sure a lot of fun. It's hard for me to grasp how an independent team from around the world got together and so thoroughly worked over Microsoft's CFS3 to this degree. But hey, like in baseball there's no crying, right?
