2nd Lt W.E. Johns DH-4 55 Sqn colours?

Hello all,
I've been a fan of W.E.Johns for a long time now, and I always wondered if there is any reference or data that either (ideally) states what colours the DH-4(s) he flew would have been painted in. Failing that, any good info on 55 Sqn's DH-4s at all?
Many thanks in advance.
