Connecting FLA's and BZ's to proper Regiment/Division
I'm making some progress (slowly) on my German balloon work, determining the locations of various FLA units on the Meuse-Argonne front. I've located an old map which, according to prisoner of war testimonies, establishes the exact location of various German regiments in the area that I'm studying. I also have mostly-complete German records showing which BZ's were active in the same region.
Now, in order to precisely determine the position of each BZ which I know was in the region, I need to find a way to connect each BZ to the regiment under which it operated. This may not be possible because BZ's and FLA's may have been assigned only at the divisional level, meaning that I am searching for a BZ-regimental connection which does not exist.
But at the moment its the only trail I have, so I'm following it. So my question to my fellow Forumites is... (drum roll, please)...
Can you help me determine which regiment these BZ's worked with, or can you demonstrate that such a connection never existed and I'm wasting my time? Thanks!
