There was nearly the same thread (about Serbia) some days ago, but:
what was the contribution was made by JAPAN to WW1?
I know that Japan conquered Tsingtao from Germany in late 1914 and some other small islands in the Pacific area.
But between 1915 and 1918 there were no German troops or ships in this area (the only exception is the cruiser/armed merchant ship/raider ´Wolf´ in 1917).
After the escape of the `Deutsches Ostindiengeschwader´ and the cruiser `Emden` there was not much to do for the modern and experienced Japanese navy. German submarines had not the needed range or refueling facilities to fight in this area.
Another thing is that Japan had a well equipped army with experience in modern warfare (1904/05 against Russia). It would have been a remarkable support for the allied side to have several thousands of Japanese soldiers at the frontlines in France.
Why did the Alliies made no use of this possibility?
Please do NOT try to discuss who is to blame for starting WW1. The ´Serbia-thread´ was not much help in this case. It is more a question of belief instead of unshakeable knowledge.
YOU will always find quotes, data, facts and documents for YOUR point of view.
If the involved countries would have known about the cruelties, casualties and the destruction of a four years war before August 1914 they surely would have avoided it.
