The Aviodrome is not in or around Amsterdam (airfield Schiphol) but is in the middle of nowhere near Lelystad. It is sometimes given as one of the reasons why the attendance for the museum was not high enough. Another reason given in the press was that income from conferences / hiring of rooms fell dramatically last year.
Some of the exhibitions are not the property of the Aviodrome but of a trust. An example is the beautifully restored B.A.T. FK.23 fighter of WW1 vintage. A few months ago it was announced by the trust that the B.A.T. was acquired by the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
Rijksmuseum krijgt vleugels met historisch vliegtuig van Frits Koolhoven - Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, het museum van Nederland
I have no information when the machine will come to the Rijksmuseum and where and how it will be exhibited. Maybe in between the famous Rembrandt paintings ?
Another specialty in the archive of the Aviodrome is the Fokker archive, which AFAIK is also the property of a trust, just as a big part of the library came from elsewhere in 2008 (see news item)

The curator has the unenviable task to sort out the collections in the museum which are the property of the Aviodrome and to sell them.
