Albatross help

Hello guys just wondering if you can help.

I am currently getting a collection together of 1/32 scale Albatross fighters I have enough Roden etc kits to make the following.

Prototype D1 of which im hoping some one has another veiw of the upturned exhaust pipe), a D1, a D2 with windoff radiators, a D2 with teves and braun radiator, a D3, a D3oaw varient, a DV with head rest, a DV without headrest and lastly the DVa.

Now also in the pipeline i have the desire (more likely the insane need) to do the following aircraft as well

D2 LVG ( which will be a converted roden D1 kit) version of which i need some scale drawings etc of so that i can produce this varient

DV OAW varient of which i need to source information and drawings of to see if there were any differnces between them and the Albatross DV ( the kit will be a converted WNW kit)

Both the early and late w4 seaplanes of which any photos and drawings in 1/32 would be of great assistence

I would also love to do the palestinian twin radiator versions of both the d3 and the DV but will wait and see .....

Sounds like a lot of work but im up for a challenge. Lastly in amongst all of this list of demands i have noticed that the radiators are different on the D3 OAW version (similar to the Dva version) to that of the albatross produced version i havent found any information on why the difference and im hoping some one can help me there. Please if i have missed anything please feel free to correct or add to my crazy dream. TIA

No OAW D.V!

Hi pvk308:
Only Albatros built the Alb.D.V. OAW only built the Alb.D.Va under license by Idflieg.

Thanks for that Dan appreciated im guessing there were no structural differences in the dva built by oaw just marking placement which wont be a concern as im going to build the enitire lot with out camoflage straight form the factory so to speak i like the look of clear dopped linnen and timber

Most likely not.

Hi pvk308:
As far as I know, the Alb.D.Va built by Albatros and those built by OAW were identical except for camouflage, location of crosses, markings and location of the manufacturer's data
plates.

pvk308 & Dan-San,

the OAW D.Va had a slightly higher all up weight so there must have been some structural differences, but they also had bar type rear fuselage lifting handels, compared to the looped cables of the Albatros built D.Va.

pvk, I dont know of many photos showing this detail clearly but there some here...

Wingsock Datafile Albatros Special on page 43.

Windsock Jasta 5 volume 2 page 36 & 37

wing nuts website in the DVa bavarians decals

what you are looking for is a small round pipe sticking out from the sides of the fuselage, low down about 1/2 way between the cross and the stabilizer.

hope this helps
