James D Belgrave

...also I know he joined 60 Sqn in 1918, but when? He was made flight commander in June, began scoring in May and sources indicate arrived in April, but can anyone confirm this?

spad,

"Wings of the Morning" lists Belgrave's arrival at 60 Squadron as April 19, 1918 (I did the math, as the book actually says two days before Richthofen died). The book says he was sent to 60 Sq to take over command of B flight.

Dates from the book - first over the lines on May 2, double on May 15 to open his 60 Sq scoring.

Belgrave failed to return from a June 13 patrol, and was confirmed killed by a later message dropped by a German plane over the Allied lines.
