American Knight
Follow the link below below then click on "Portfolio" followed by "Showreel" to see something that may be of great interest - especially the closing moments. Can anyone shed any light on the "American knight"?

A Chris Roberts project in 2004. May have been shelved.
Quote:
|
WWI love story "American Knight," to be directed by Ascendant partner Chris Roberts ("Wing Commander"), about an American pilot in a British air squadron who is torn between fighting the good cause of the war and vying for the love of a French woman, the latter of which leads to an air-combat confrontation with the Red Baron. Roberts, Duke Selley and Joshua Rubin scripted the project.

Chris Roberts was my hero until i waited 6 years for Freelancer to appear and then he sold the project to microsoft and they created a standard quality game out of it. Was very disappointing. I never heard of American Knight before

American Knight
Hello,
Go over to Wing Commander CIC and do a search for "American Knight" there are a few threads concerning the project. I believe that the project is dead because of flyboys preceeding it. Too bad....would have liked to have seen what Roberts was up to. I wonder who has the script?

Im fairly sure that "American Knight" was the working tittle of work on CGI for what became "Flyboys" !!

I don't think that "American Knight" and "Flyboys" were connected, as during and after the Flyboys filming there was work being done by other people on "American Knight", and they were upset that "Flyboys" was beating them to the punch.

That airplane is clearly a Sopwith Camel, and there are no Camels in Flyboys, at least as far as I can see. There's an SE5A, a Bristol Fighter, a Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter, a Bleriot XI, a CGI generated Handley Page, and several replica Nieuport 17's as well as a whole flock of CGI Nieuports and Fokker DR I's - but no Camel.
I know the Gotha was a the product of a replica portion for close ups and a CGI image, but I don't know how many replica Fokker Dr I's were used, if any. Perhaps BaldEagle can tell us, he was there.

If this is going to be American production film, yes,it will be a flyboyish,CGI flick.Hollywood has a rank, and that rank is major control freak.Hollywood thinks stuff like flyboys is what the plublic "want's".
