Seeflugstation victories

Maybe someone knows how many claims were made by SFS I and SFS II? I have not seen any stats on this, or maybe there are not any?

Regards, Terry

Incomplete data?

I forgot to mention that I had counted up the casualty listings in The Jasta War Chronology and that SFS I had 11(?) and SFS II had 43(?). This just somehow feels wrong; Christensen alone supposedly had 13 claims with SFS I..what am I missing?

Regards and great holidays to all,

Terry

I just have to ask, why are you comparing German casualties to German victories? Guess I am missing something here indeed. R.

My Error

Rick,
My error; I used the word casualties when I was referencing claims. (Of course, in a sense they are the same thing) My intent is to explore the claims of the Seeflugstations, as I have not seen any information on their successes, or losses for that matter. Again, I counted up the claims as listed in the book Jasta War Chronology for SFS I and II, which were 11 and 43. This does not seem right as no claims were listed for Christensen, and he was the top scorer of SFS I with 13. So I am confused and probably can be educated by someone far brighter than I.

AHA!! The light dawns. Now I see the problem. You asked for total victories of Seeflugstations I and II. These were primarily see plane units (two-seaters) called Seeflugstation Flanders I and II and abbreviated SEE I (Zeebrugge) and SEE II (Ostend). You cited victories for SFS I and SFS II. These abbreviations stand for Seefrontstaffel I and II (and actually there was also an SFS III). These were single seater units, which is why the victories you noted were listed in "The Jasta War Chronology" [emphasis added to denote single-seaters].

So, with that little bit of confusion over the proper abbreviations cleared up, you want the total victories for SEE I and SEE II. Can't help. That is a question for Gunnar Söderbaum and/or Frank Olynyk. But, at least we are now asking the right question . R.

I stand corrected and illuminated!

Rick;
Thank you very much for correcting my errors ...I knew someone would be knowledgable enough to understand what I am interested in. Yes, I am interested in the total victories/claims by SEE I and SEE II.

Regards,

Terry
