Heyer

Hi

I am interested to find further information about an Army observer, Lt dR x Heyer, who served nearly the entire War within different Marine flying units...

Heyer was promoted Oblt dR in 1915 and later in 1918 he was promoted further to Hptm dR..
In Mar 1917 he was posted out as commander of HSS Hage and posted to AFP 1 for Army service...
However he was back in the Marine Air Force in early 1918 and stayed there until EOW...

Anyone knew his "true name", like first name or have any kind of added information...??

There were TWO pre-war Prussian reserve officers named Heyer...

UNFORTUNATELY Prussian Rank Lists do not show first names or rank dates for reservists!!!!

The Naval Honor Rank List simply lists army officers attached to WW1 naval units by final rank, no first names or birth dates, and without the specific dates they entered for navy officers:

Heyer shows I. Marine Landflieger Abteilung Ostende, Zug-Offizier
Bombenkursus Norderney, Leiter
II. Seeflieger Abteilung, Flugstation Hage, Stationsleiter.

ONE Heyer was Lt dR before the war in the Garde Füsilier Regiment (resident in Minden), and the

SECOND was Lt dR before the war in Infantry Regiment 165, resident in Hamburg.

A Johann Hermann Otto Heyer, born 30 March 1880 Ruhrort am Rhein, lists himself in the 1935 "Wer Ist's?" as Hauptmann dR aD "war service, EK1,2" but no mention of flying. He was a Berghauptmann in the mining industry, and gives extensive job and family data... but may not be the right one!!!

Your hints are interesting and they give a good start to possible find the "true name" of this German flyer...

Heyer

Hi Rick,

your Johann Hermann Otto Heyer was the Garde-Füsilier-Regiment Heyer and in fact after serving as a company commander was a mining expert on the economics staff in Rumania from February 1918. No flyer

Heyer

And the other Heyer (still no first name) in Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 165 had been commissioned as a Leutnant der Reserve on 18.10.08. He was a businessman working in the family firm of Georg Heyer & Co and lived at Bernhardstraße 17/25 in Hamburg before the war.

Thanks very much Glenn..!

Now, there is only "two" candidates left... ....and the Lt dR Heyer from IR 165* looks very promising, as his date of promotion to Lt dR well fits the "wanted" Heyer who was promoted to Oblt dR in the autumn of 1915...

*Does it exist any book about this unit (it seems that that it exist good books from at least 80 % of all IR etc)...?
Is it possible to find his date of birth, as this kind kind of information is worth "gold" for further research...??
