Mike,
From my US WW1 Victory List, on Sept 26, 1918 Newbury was the observer in Breguet 14B2 #20, one of 6 aircraft credited with an u/i a/c (Fokker?) OOC, at 1015 in the region of Cunel, at 4200 meters. The official confirmation is in 1st Army GO 28 paragraph 4, where it is credited as a Squadron victory (I don't remember if the crews were named in the GO). Newbury's pilot was 1Lt Belmont F Beverly. Do you middle names for either of them?
The second claim, on Oct 4, at 1635, was a Pfalz, dark gray fuselage, b&w stripes at region of Landres-St Georges, crashed, at 2000 meters. In this case there were "only" three aircraft involved; in this case Beverly and Newbury were in #21. Credit is in GO 17 paragraph 20, again as a Squadron victory.
Frank.
