Esteemed forum members;

I am trying to gain a better understanding re Fliegerabteilung FA 37, while the unit was based in the Baltic region in 1917 and 1918. I understand that FA 37 was initially raised on 11 January 1917. In 1918, it was based on the Estonian islands, then it was relocated to Tallinn (Reval).

Specifically, I'd like to have a better understanding as to what types of a/c FA 37 was equipped with, what the a/c may have looked like (photographic documentation if possible) and information re the operational history of the unit.

What resources or reference materials might I turn to, to locate same?

Thank you kindly in advance for any assistance efforts, which may be rendered on my behalf.

Regards;

Arvo L. V.

Hello Arvo

That was many questions...?.....regarding their type of a/c I have nearly no information...

However, regarding the unit history I have some information.

The unit history started already at BOW, when FeFA 7 Boyen was formed out of FB 2/3 under the command of Hptm Fhr von der Goltz.
Does anyone have Goltz first name...?

Already on 13 Sep 1914 it was moved to the front and renamed to FFA 37...

It served nearly the entire War in the Baltic region and during 1915 and 1916 it also co-operated with German Marine Air Force in this area..

I have a note that they moved to Haapsal on 15 Mar 1918 and probably moved out of this location to a new airfield (where?) 45 km W Narva on 22 Apr 1918, do You knew the name of that airfield...?

It seems that they moved further to Windau later on(date?), and in the early summer of 1918 they moved to the Western front...
