1. On the inside of the cowling, inset from the rear was a positioning flange that rest against the firewall face.
2. Two holes were positioned i on the cowling in line with the upper longerons.
3. On the firewall ring were two studs in line with ther upper longerons.
4. Bolted on the firewall face at the bottom corners were two brackets with a projecting flange with a hole in the projection.
5. Near the rear outside edge of the cowling was a groove spun into the cowl. This groove match a groove spun into the firewall flange.
6. A retaining cable with eye bolts at each end was layed into the cowling grove and was retained in place with two clips riveted to the cowling.
7. The cowling was placed on the firewall flange, inserting the studs on the firewall through the holes in the rear edge of the cowling, the cowling was pushed back engaging the positioning fange against the firewall.
8. The eyebolts were passed through the eyes on the projecting flanges on each side and a nut was threaded on the eyebolts and tightened. A jam nut was put on and tightened to secure the retaining nut.
