hi guys,
looking for information surrounding his death on 29.09.1918. From photo's it looks like he may have still been with Jasta 13 on the 20.08.1918 but i have no info between these dates.

Stu,
I'm not sure I understand your question. There was no Johannes Fritzsche killed on 29Sep18. There was a Uffz. Johannes Fritzsche of FEA 14 KIC on 12Sep18 at Halle a.d. Salle.
For the Vzfw. Johannes Fritzsche of Jasta 13, I have the following:
Jasta 69 2Mar18 - 1May18
Jasta 13 1May18 - 13Jul18
Jasta 69 13Jul18 - EOW
To further confuse matters, there was a Vzfw. Hans Fritzsche who served in Jasta 29 from 11Mar17 to 9Apr18, arriving from AFP 3 and being posted to the disposal of Idflieg.
I do not show any Fritzsche in Jasta 13 on 20Aug18 ?? Could I be in error? OF COURSE !! I'd like a peak at the photo which puts him there on this date. R.

Stu,
I am beginning to think Fritzsche never transferred back to Jasta 69, but remained at Jasta 13 until he was sent to FEA 14. The photo on the Dittmann web site notes he was killed at Halle. Therefore, he IS the same guy. Curiouser and curiouser. R.

Hi Rick,
He is definetly with Jasta 13 on the 7th July he is present in Ltn Neckel 20th victory photo in the dittmann collection. My having him still with Jasta 13 in August comes from badly taken notes putting in Buchner 20th victory photo. If you have identification for the eleven pilots i would be greatfull. My provisonal line up is as follows:- unknown/unknown/Grimm/unknown/Felix Buchner/Franz Buchner/Dittman/unknown/Neithammer/Haussmann/Fritzsche-now know as wrong.

Stu,
Are you talking about the Jasta 13 line-up as shown on the Dittmann web site (within the next to the last 1918 album, photo 61)?? If so, this is how I read it (my Schrift ain't any too good):
Nach Neckels 20 Abschuss
Grimm, Niethammer, Hetze, Neckel, Büchner, ich = Dittmann, Laabs, Hencke, Haussmann, Fritzsche.
Neckel scored his 20th on 7Jul18. If there is a similar lineup of Jasta 13 when Büchner got his 20th (20Aug18), I flat out missed it. Can you direct me to it? R.

Stu,
I may have found it (Büchner's 20th photo) in the same album. There must be 100 guy's there - probably the entire Jasta. I have no idea who is who?? There seem to be no names. R.

Hi Rick,
Its the photo next to the large group. It is also published in Greg's book Fokker D.VII part 1 as well as in the Over the Front Vol.9 part 4 page 348.
Here is the same original photo from the Dittman collection, unfortunatly Dittmann did name them this time and so its time to done the historian hat to find out. I'm not doing to well so what do you think?
1.unknown 2.unknown 3. Grimm 4.unknown 5.Felix Buchner 6.FranzBuchner 7.Dittman 8.unknown 9.Neithammer 10.Haussmann 11.Fritzsche(Wrong)
possibles for the others are
1. Ltn Hetze
2. Ltn Wolff - the only positive picture of him, he is injured and his face is swollen badly.
3. Vzfw Krauss - I do not have arrival date at Jasta.
4. Flg Lange - I do not have arrival date at Jasta.

Thank Rick,
I think I can identify the fourth from the left as Ltn Paul Wolff. When compared to photo of him in Dittman collection there uniform is the same as well as the marks on his right cheek, so I am around 90% sure.
I am not so sure of this one but the 8th from the left could be Ltn Hetze, reasons being he is taller than Ltn Neithammer as another photo proves, he is also wearing an iron cross and the only other iron cross wearer is to short i.e. the man on far right. So I am only 55% sure.
If Uffz Fritzsche had left who else would have had an iron cross at this time?
