Hello there

Can anyone shed a little light on a subject that was brought up about my post in Models, the Roden model site has Berthold's Fokker DVII with an Olive drab center section with the blue painted over the cross. Is this accurate? *http://www.rodenplant.com/HTML/fokkerd7early.htm
Thanks

Hi chip

Didn't I just read this somewhere else?
Actually I just posted in the Models section. Yes the scheme is accurate. Check page 11 and 52 of the Fokker D.VII Anthology 1 for a plate and picture of this aircraft.

My Gallery
Chip55:
I have responded to this question in the Model section. This is a correct rendition of Hptm. Rudolf Berthold's Fokker built D.VII. Rimell has the color too brown, it is quite greenish. There is an axtant fabric sample in the Imperial War Museum, London. The problem I have with P.Endsleigh Castle's rendition in Profile 25 is I have never seen a photograph of the machine, so finished. I am not saying one does not exist, I am saying I have never seen one of it. I have seen the Peter M. Grosz collection and the A.E.Ferko collection and it is not in either of these collections, which are to say the least most extensive. What adds to my quandary are the cross forms are of the 4 April 1918 Idflieg Directive. The photo of Berthold standing along side his Fok. D.VII with the dark green streaking, was taken following his 29th victory 28 May 1918, which would have had the Balken Kreuze form of 4 April 1918. Without a supporting photograph I am in doubt of the Castle rendition. ???
Blue skies,
Dan-San
