Hannover 13199/17

Does anyone have documentary evidence as to the serial of the Hannover CL.II that was exhibited at the Agriculture Hall in Islington. The only photos I have seen show the port side stripped of ply and no serial.

13199/17 is usually given as the one at Islington, however photos show it on open air display in St James Park – starboard side only.

13199/17 came to Australia but no photos of it here have surfaced that I know of.

There is no mention of the open fuselage in documentation in the AWM, hence the question.

Hi Colin,

So you are questioning whether the stripped Hannover at Islington was indeed 13199/17?

No shortage of photos of this aircraft, but like you, I have only seen the one port side image from the Agricultural Hall.

I had no idea it was shipped to Australia –*most interesting.

Hannover

Yes, that Hannover was sent to Australia but I think that the one at Islington was not it, but need documentary proof.

Stay Safe

Wow, that is very interesting, Colin - I had no idea that 13199/17 went to Ausralia. And, thanks for finally identifying the Park where all those German a/c were exhibited!! Do you have any dates for when the display at St. James Park was ?? Obviously post-war.

Here is the stripped Hannover at islington. Note that not only the fuselage, but the port top wing has been uncovered as well, along with the bottom wing..

Here is 13199/17, displayed at St. James Park. The entire upper wing still seems to have its fabric covering.

I would agree that they are most likely not the same aircraft, probably.
