Okay, I know it's not WWI, but does anyone know where I can get a 1/48 conversion kit to make a F-86F to a F-86A? ??? ???

Richard,
I'm pretty sure that Cutting Edge makes a conversion for that along with slats and a bunch of other stuff for several different F-86 variants.
Cutting edge is available through Meteor Productions.

Try the ads in model mags like Fine Scale Modeller. Also you can check their back issues for articles on line.
www.finescale.com.
Sorry, but why would you want to convert an F to an A when there are very good ,available, models of the A? And who made the F kit? I would really like to have one.

Hasegawa makes a nice F model. The Acadamy is an F, I think. Who makes an A? I'm thinking only of 1/48th scale kits. I know nothing about the 1/72 scale kits out there.

There's a nice Hyperscale review, with photos, of the Cutting Edge conversion set at:
http://www.kitreview.com/reviews/f86aconve...nreviewbg_1.htm
It looks really nice, but for $35, it should!
I'm not aware of any F-86A kit in 1/48th; there's the old Matchbox kit in 1/72nd, but that's a Matchbox jet - enough said. (Although some of their 1930s biplanes were wonderful.)

The kit I have of the F 86, is a Monogram kit and does not state on the box whether it is an A or E, according to my ref. the major difference being the E had a full flying tail, and drop tanks.
The ref indicated that the F had no slots, and a larger wing are for high alt. It would be easier to convert an E to an A.
The only A7 kit I have is 1/72 by Revell about 10 yrs ago.
I guess I really need to computize my kits. I have that Ac. F 86F kit. Monogram may reissue that E model as they just last year issued the Dog.
About a month ago I saw the Monogram kit (E or A) in a hobby shop.

I like the A model because that what was used by the 4th Fighter Group in 1951. At that time they were the only F-86 group in Korea. They fought off a horde of Mig-15s, many flown by Russia's best fighter pilots. I also think the black and white ID stripes look a lot better than the later yellow stripes.

Richard,
I think Cutting Edge just released or re-released an F-86A decal sheet that looks pretty cool.
