Hello, Would like to build two versions of the Hobbycraft Dr.1- the machine flown by Lt. Kempf, and the aircraft used by Lt. Baeumer. Could any one steer me to a source of decals for these airplanes? Please understand that I do not have access to an ALPS printer, nor is there a Kinkos in my locale.
Thank you,
willycoppens

Willy, Alter Junge, Kempf's Dr.I is a challenge in 1/28. To my knowledge, there are NO decals available. I did it about 10 years ago, but w/ olive streaking over blue, rather than olive over CDL as it should have been (don't I feel bloody silly :-/. The secret is to cut the markings out of solid decal material, which requires paticence, but is possible. (I'm sending you scans of markings) The "Kempf." (the "period" is a square, visible in some photos) on the upper wing actually has a black outline, and this is made by cutting the stencils for the markings out of thin cardboard. Tracing around the "male" cutout portion onto black decal material will give you the black outline, while the white portion is done by tracing the "female" cutout onto white decal material. The difference in the pencil lead width, will give you an appropriate outline in 1/28 scale. Be advised that the "K" on the fuselage should be yellow with a black outline (at least on one of Kempf's Tripes). Alles Gute, Rob

Willy, the markings for Baeumer's 204/17 would be even easier to do out of decal material. Do you need scans of it, as well? Rob
