After my Father Lt.Col. Harry W. Abbott's contract expired with the Chinese Republic, he left the South China Air Service and we moved to Hong Kong. He found out that a Canadian built Curtiss JN4C remains were in a Godown (warehouse) that was owned by a Mr. Lim On After he was discharged from the RCAF he purchased one of there machines and shipped to Hong Kong. he then manage turn into a pile of trash in a basketball court in Hong Kong. Two years later my Father came along and bought the Curtiss JN4C for $2000 HK as is. In a matter of two weeks he rebuilt the Jenny. He then acquired a contract with the Southern China Cigarette Company to advertise their cigarettes.
He painted a Chinese Girl blowing smoke rings which said inclosed in the smoke rings, in chinese, "Smoke South China Cigarettes". I referred to this Jenny as the "Pink Lady".
His airfield which he called Kowloon Aviation Field, later became Kai-Tak.
Blue skies,
