Thanks to Mike Fletcher's Nieuport Pages, I have a very good drawing of the Le Prieur launch mount, and to J.M Bruce's Nieuport Fighters Datafile (Vol 1), great pics of the rockets and sight, as well. However, a couple of questions remain:
1) On p.39 of the Datafile, the top starboard rocket seems to be missing. Is the entire round and its stabilizing stick gone? I.e. were the "launch tubes" a fixed part of the mount? The rockets in my Eduard Nie.11 kit seem to have very underdiameter tubes/sticks attached.
2) Were the "blast panels" on the lower wing, metal, or plywood, and were they painted? The protective sheathing on the struts appear to be un-painted aluminum. 3) What color rocket bodies? TIA

Dar Rob,

I think that answers to your questions, are in the book "René Dorme & Joseph Guiget": (The Air War of Two Aces) by Marc CHASSARD.

I lend it at a friend, also I don't have it near me, also I am not able to give you these details, I remember that 3 or 4 pages are given details about, technicals and combat technic with drawings etc...
By exemple, I remember that for attack against Zeppelin, they was using "thermite" and when they was used against balloon, now powder, but SAND, yes you are well reading, SAND, I don't remember details of action.

This book is very interesting regarding "StorkS" escadrilleS, they are very intersting, quality and inedit photos in, and they are two colors pictures in of a G4 and the second, a very outstanding of Jean Chaput's Nieuport XI, with the shade of the famous brown/green camouflage, AND the exact shade of the cockade french blue, very dark ( I know, I do error on my decal sheet, but at time , I was young on this matter).
You will find also a lot of aicraft profils, drawings etc... and: this book is a perfect twin french & british, texts, photos and drawings captions. A "MUST" I think. ( I know, I used two time this word in 24 h, but it was occasion )

I don't know where this book is available in USA, try Squadron?
( I don't take % on this book sale )

Bonne Journée.
Philippe.

Merci beaucoup, Philippe. I found the book at www.aeroplanebooks. com, but I already spent the $59.95 on my Hi-Tech 1/32 Albatros

Hello Rob,

I am in delay with Albatros, but less than Great Cies

In France, we say: "Plus c'est long, plus c'est bon", if I try to translate, it would give: " more is long time, better it is"

To be serious, I am working on, taking time for a better result.

Coming soon, VOISIN X, SNIPE and.....SALAMANDER at 1.48 of course (+ figures ranges)

You will see, the "Dorme & Guiget book" is a very nice book. When you will receive it, please give me your comments.

I was rethinking about the " le Prieur rockets", I think that the only missing answer is colors, but like they was in cardboard and wood, I think that they was in this old brown colors of oiled cardboard. I will try to have more details about.
